When I set up ASM, a bunch of old devices showed up from my predecessor that were purchased from Apple but never managed, so I can confirm enrollment is retroactive, but who knows if this is true for everyone. If they were purchased from a non-apple reseller, then you need Apple Configurator 2 to enroll them into ASM as a DEP. If devices are purchased from Apple, then they will show up in ASM as a DEP automagically. There is no MDM involved with ASM beyond the ability to point Device Enrollment Program (DEP) devices to the MDM server that will manage them. I think to answer your question directly, if all your devices are showing up in Apple School Manager (ASM) there is no need for a mac running Apple Configurator 2 and you'd want to look into Mosyle or JAMF. You can still enroll devices in an MDM without them being wiped, but it'll be more at a BYOD level of supervision than total ownership. If you allow the use of standard Apple IDs, users can use both services.įor devices to be under the highest level of supervision, they'll need to be wiped as part of the process. If you decide to use managed Apple IDs (domain_) then the users will not have access to the App Store and will need to download apps through your provisioning software. Finally, in the MDM, assign the device to users or group as appropriate. Then in ABM/ASM, assign the device to your MDM. My workflow (which could almost certainly be improved) is to online the device, then connect it to the Macbook and run the setup profile against it. Not everything needs to be filled out, and some steps (like network profiles) can be worked around if they just aren't clicking into place. The documentation for setting up the Configurator profiles is a bit scattered, but keep at it and join the MacAdmins slack if you get stuck. You'll be trading certificates between ASM and your MDM so they can talk, but this process is usually illustrated step-by-step and is easy to follow (click generate, copy file, repeat). There are others mentioned in the thread, so investigate them all and see what fits your requirements best. Addigy and Mosyle are good alternatives, and the latter of those two is what we went with as they were much cheaper (at the time I haven't checked recently). However, like /u/neurosurge mentioned, if you don't need remote oversight of these devices, you can manage policies out of Configurator to some extent instead of paying for an MDM.Īs far as MDMs, Jamf is positioned as enterprise Apple device management and feels intended for organizations that use Mac desktops in addition to mobile devices, price-wise. You may want an MDM that you can tie into ASM. If you bought through a reseller, they may be willing to add them retroactively, and Apple may be willing to add the devices if you can provide receipts and other proof of ownership. Short answer: yes, you need a Macbook for Configurator 2 it won't run on any other system and there is no other way for you to add the devices to ASM.

The Fairest of Them All: Seven Things You May Not Know About Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (4:37) - Young Disney actress Sofia Carson offers some random facts about Snow White and the film's productions. Four artists create unique pieces inspired by Snow White in their own way and Designing Disney's First Princess (5:16) - Animators and art directors reflect on the film, concept art and how things have changed today since this film debuted. Iconography (7:16) covers the recognizable imagery from Snow White. He talks about the challenges they faced with making the film and how he was able to build his studio with the profits from the movie! In Walt's Words: Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (4:22) - We hear archival audio of Walt Disney himself talking about the movie while we see some archival video. Along with the feature film are a few new extras, in addition to the bonus features from the film's original 2009 Blu-Ray Diamond Edition release. One thing to note, for movie buffs, is that the aspect ratio of the movie is not 16:9. It's also available in just a plain DVD release. The Signature Collection Edition Blu-Ray release of Snow White & The Seven Dwarfs offers a DVD along with it and a Disney Movies Anywhere digital copy. And the new Signature Collection edition of Snow White & The Seven Dwarfs is a great way to remedy that. But, to be completely honest, if you haven't seen it all restored in high definition, you have yet to really experience this treasured piece of film history. If you're a fan of Disney films and productions, chances are you've already seen Snow White & The Seven Dwarfs (and if you haven't, you really should). There are certainly some heavy themes and scary content for young viewers, but the heart of the film is big too, and the quality of this Disney production is worth experiencing. Snow then goes into a deep sleep (and presumably dies, but apparently the dwarfs can't bear to part with her, so they display her in a glass case.), until the arrival of Prince Charming to save the day. Later in the film, we see the evil queen transform herself into a frightening witch who then tricks Snow into eating a poisoned apple. The scene quickly turns from frightening to sweet when the forest animals show their concern for Snow, however. The evil queen is rather scary, for one, and one sequence even involves the Huntsman creepily sneaking up behind a defenseless Snow White with a knife raised following an order from the queen to bring her her heart! Obviously, the Huntsman doesn't go through with it, but it does send Snow running frantically into the forest where she sees spooky eyes lurking in the shadows and the trees looking alive and quite frightening. This G-rated classic may still have some content to frighten the little ones. (And its HD presentation really allows that to shine through.) So a film like Snow White & The Seven Dwarfs is brimming with charm for not only its historical merit, but for the lovable characters it boasts, memorable songs and beautiful animation. We live in a time where most of our entertainment is super fast-paced and frantic in nature, and stories that aren't blasting viewers with rapid-fire jokes and relentless quick cuts are a thing of the past. It feels a little aimless for a bit, however, one has to remember that this isn't a recent film by any means. I was impressed with how the film opens and sets up the villain and then our heroine, but I was actually rather surprised at what unfolds once Snow White meets the seven dwarfs - the plot kind of grinds to a halt to let a series of silly and cute moments involving the dwarfs to make up most of the pre-climactic story. Furthermore, those characters' acting is very much in the style of live action films from the 1930's-and it actually feels like it. For one, it's intriguing to note how the human characters - like Snow White, Prince Charming and The Evil Queen - are drawn in a rather realistic fashion. And, to be honest, I apparently forgot most of the film since last seeing it when I was little. To think that Snow White & The Seven Dwarfs even predates my parents is hard to wrap my head around, but revisiting Snow White as an adult - and in high definition - allows me to view it with a new pair of eyes. I grew up watching a lot of the classic Disney movies. And with Disney's Snow White on the cusp of turning 80, Disney has released the film in a new "Signature Collection" edition on Blu-Ray disc - its first re-release since its 2009 Blu-Ray debut and its return to the vault in 2011. Snow White & The Seven Dwarfs was the very first animated feature film, and it also marked the birth of Disney's animation studio, which would go on to produce many, many more feature films over the years. It's almost hard to believe that the first animated feature film is celebrating 79 years in 2016. Movie Reviews (Main) > Movie Reviews (Main).Indie Reviews (Main) > Indie Reviews (Main). End Bar LineĮnd bar lines have two vertical lines like the double bar lines with the rightmost line a little bit thicker than the left vertical line. Each double bar line has the same thickness, not to be confused with the end bar line. These two vertical bar lines mark the start and end of sections. Double Bar LinesĪs the name suggests, double bar lines look like a single bar line with a second line next to it. These look like small vertical lines that mark the beginning of one measure and the end of the prior bar line. Single bar lines are the most common type of bars in music. However, there are several different types of bar lines to understand as a part of basic music theory: Single Bar Line When reading music, the most common bar line you'll come across is the single bar line. In most popular music, you can expect each bar to have four beats, with each beat marked by a quarter note, but remember that every musical composition varies based on the time signature. For instance, in popular Western music, it's fairly common to have 8 bars of verse followed by 4 bars of chorus. Understanding bar structure can also help you identify patterns while writing music. For instance, you might be told you have "four bars to play a solo", which means you essentially have four measures to play some lines before moving along to the next section. If you're ever improvising with a band, you'll be counting bars to keep your solo sections for the right length. When you're playing with other musicians, it's not uncommon to hear measures referred to as "bars"- especially as it pertains to preparing for an upcoming section. Why Is Understanding Bar Lines Important?Įven if you don't plan on reading sheet music, understanding the concept of bar lines and how many beats fall into each measure of your composition is key to your success as a performer. You can use these bar numbers to quickly locate the tasked section. For instance, you conductor might ask you to work on a section between bars 5 and 10. These are called "bar numbers" and are used so that you can quickly communicate with other music performers. Bars get their names from the bar lines that separate one measure to the next. Performers are often asked to play from a particular bar during rehearsal or while improvising. It's common to see patterns of 4, 8, and even 16-bar sections in music. The number of beats per bar remains the same.īars can be used to identify patterns in music, for instance, musical sections usually move in increments of four bars. It is also called a " measure ", and the length of each bar is determined by the time signature and tempo of a particular piece of music. Let's get into it! Understanding the Bar in Music TheoryĪ bar is a section in music distinguished by bar lines. Want to get in on the scoop? Below, we'll decode everything you need to know about bar lines in music so that you can properly perform and communicate with your fellow musicians. Bars are handy tools that help us perform and read music effectively. Have you ever heard a musician ask how many bars before the next musical movement? That musician isn't talking about a fun hang-out space for you and your friends, they're most likely talking about bar lines.
